I am a 32nd degree scottish rite freemason. My blue lodge is lodge #42 Lake Country Lodge. I have been the junior and senior steward, senior deacon and senior warden of our lodge here in Oconomowoc. I hope I got that right.
I was first introduced into Freemasonry by my UW-Stout roommate Ted (no last name). He told me all of these stories and I didn't know what to think.
Time goes by and I am getting married to my wife Angel. Before I got married, she informed me that her family was big into Masonry. Anywho, at our wedding Angel's brother came up to me and asked me if I ever wanted to join his lodge. My response was one of confusion. I asked if he could explain Freemasonry to me and what it was all about? He turned 180 degrees and walked away.
I was interested, but wasn't sure. I figured I would try it out and if it wasn't for me or wasn't a respectable institution I would just quit. So it goes from there.
I joined the Blue lodge and went through my first 3 degrees. Entered Apprentice, Fellow craft, and Master Mason. I met a bunch of good guys who I could trust. It was not what I was taught to believe. It is the world's oldest fraternity. We meet twice a month, the first and third Wednesdays during the month.
After many years I joined the Scottish Rite. Their degrees go from 4th degree to 33 degree. I am a 32nd degree mason. You have to really do a lot of charitable work if you want to become a 33nd degree mason. One guy from our blue lodge is a 33nd degree mason, he definitely earned it. I have been a mason for almost 16 years. I was raised to the sublime degree of Master Masons in March of 2009.
If lodge wasn't a good thing I wouldn't be a part of it. If you have any further questions about lodge just shoot me an email at: millscottm@gmail.com I hope this clears things up for some people. I hope this makes sense to the readers of this Blog.
